Overview

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Networking Technician to join our technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting networking equipment and infrastructure. This role requires strong technical knowledge of networking fundamentals, practical hands-on skills, and the ability to deliver reliable connectivity solutions for both internal systems and client networks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and related devices).

  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.

  • Perform routine network monitoring, performance checks, and preventative maintenance.

  • Support network upgrades, expansions, and migrations.

  • Ensure all networking equipment is correctly documented, labelled, and updated in inventory systems.

  • Provide technical support to clients and field staff for network-related issues.

  • Maintain compliance with security protocols, network policies, and best practices.

  • Collaborate with senior network engineers on complex projects and escalations.

Qualifications
  • Matric/Grade 12 (required).

  • National Diploma in Networking, IT, or related field (advantageous).

  • 1–3 years’ experience in networking support, IT infrastructure, or a similar role.

  • Familiarity with Cisco, MikroTik, Ubiquiti, or similar networking platforms.

  • Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing protocols.

  • CompTIA Network+ / Cisco CCNA certification (preferred but not required).

Key Competencies
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

  • Willingness to work after hours or on standby when required.
