Placements24 is seeking a vigilant Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer to monitor and maintain the integrity of a telecommunications network in Polokwane. You will perform proactive surveillance, respond to incidents, and ensure continuous availability of network services.

You’ll work with field technicians and engineering teams to restore services quickly, document events in the incident system, and help develop NOC procedures.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in IT/CS or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in a network monitoring or NOC environment.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios) and ticketing systems.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP), and topologies.
• Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends, as required by the NOC schedule.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor network infrastructure using NMS tools to detect performance issues and outages.
• Respond to network alerts and incidents, performing initial diagnosis and escalation as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and performance problems within defined SLAs.
