Job summary

RSAWEB, in Cape Town, seeks a Network Engineering Manager to lead network operations for the group (RSAWEB & Octotel). You will drive uptime, vendor coordination, and network strategy across Cisco, Juniper and Extreme gear, while mentoring engineers and delivering secure, scalable connectivity.

You will manage budgeting, capacity planning, and ongoing improvements to VPN/metro Ethernet services in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Qualifications

  • CCNP/CCSP certification with CSCO number required.
  • 10+ years in an ISP environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco/Juniper/Extreme network gear.
  • Experience with IPv4/IPv6, BGP, OSPF and MPLS.
  • Linux server experience and Radius AAA familiarity.
  • VMware virtualization and monitoring tools experience.
  • Good communication and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily operational duties are fulfilled.
  • Lead a team of network and Net-SysAdmin engineers.
  • Maintain and improve the RSAWEB network.
  • Plan network rollout and related tasks within budget.
  • Maintain network stability and uptime.
  • Oversee network product support and development.
  • Ensure security of the network and execute group network strategy.
  • Provide internal customer support and coaching to staff.

The Network Engineering Manager role for the Group (comprising Octotel & RSAWEB) presents an enticing opportunity. The chosen candidate will have the chance to leverage their skillset across a wide array of products supported by two robust, carrier-grade networks.

RSAWEB:

Established in 2001, RSAWEB is a fast-growing and highly innovative Internet Service Provider. We specialize in Cloud infrastructure, Enterprise Connectivity, Mobile Data Management, Fibre To The Home and Fibre To The Business. Our focus is on helping customers succeed online by leveraging technology to increase revenue, manage risk and contain costs.

Octotel:

A day in your life as the Network Engineering Manager:
  • Ensure daily operational duties are fulfilled
  • Managing a team of Network and Net-SysAdmin engineers
  • Ongoing maintenance and improvement of the RSAWEB network
  • Overall planning of network rollout and associated tasks
  • Managing of the RSAWEB network within budget parameters
  • Maintain network stability and uptime of the RSAWEB network
  • Network product support and ongoing development
  • Security of the overall network
  • Execution of the group network strategy
  • Internal customer support
  • And any other reasonable task
  • This role requires managing a team of highly skilled engineers and providing the necessary direction to ensure operational or project success.
  • Providing leadership to the team which includes day-to-day management, cultivating the company culture and ensuring the team is successful
  • We encourage internal learning and on-the-job training. Engineering managers are required to provide coaching and necessary guidance to technical and non-technical staff.
Requirements
  • CCNP/CCSP certification with official CSCO number
  • 10+ years working within an ISP based environment
  • Experience and knowledge of Cisco routers and switches (IOS)
  • Experience and knowledge of Juniper routers and switches (JUNOS)
  • Experience and knowledge of Extreme Networks switches (EXOS)
  • Experience and knowledge of IP addressing and subnetting (IPv4 &IPv6)
  • Experience and knowledge of Routing protocols including BGP and OSPF
  • Experience and knowledge of MPLS and Metro Ethernet protocols
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting ability
  • Experience and knowledge of of Linux Servers
  • Experience and knowledge of Radius (AAA)
  • Experience and knowledge of VMWare and virtualization
  • Proficiency with source-control tools (GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.)
  • Familiar with monitoring systems/tools e.g. Netdata/Zabbix/Iris
  • Experience leading a engineering team
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of network solutions, standards and protocols
  • Experience in working with multi-cultured employees
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and initiatives with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and is stress tolerant
  • Capacity planning and network optimization experience
  • Valid driver license and own transport
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment
