Job summary

Saab Australia seeks a Systems Engineer / Verification Engineer to validate a mission-critical Combat Management System for naval environments. You will lead V&V activities across software releases, operate in formal and informal testing environments, and contribute to early defect detection with objective quality evidence for acceptance and certification.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Verification & Validation within complex software-intensive systems.
• Strong background in test planning, test case development, and execution.
• Experience identifying and managing defects within structured engineering processes.
• Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS.
• Ability to think critically and challenge system behaviour and assumptions.

Responsibilities

• Define verification strategies, including coverage targets, traceability, test levels, and entry/exit criteria.
• Review system and software requirements to ensure clarity, completeness, and testability.
• Develop a deep technical understanding of systems under test and their operational context.
• Design and develop robust test cases and procedures aligned to VCRM, including boundary and robustness testing, fault-injection scenarios, and security validation.
• Execute and lead formal test events, alongside incremental and integration testing activities.
• Generate Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) to demonstrate compliance with system requirements, safety and security cases, and regulatory standards.
• Identify, log, and manage defects; participate in triage to assess priority and impact.
• Conduct technical reviews of test artefacts (ATPros, ATRs, VCRMs).
• Collaborate with Systems, Software, Hardware, Integration, ILS, Safety, and Cyber teams.
• Provide early feedback into design and integration to reduce downstream risk.
• Support audits, reviews, and independent verification activities.
