Kontak Recruitment is seeking an experienced National Operations Manager to take ownership of a national road freight and distribution operation. Based in the East Rand, Johannesburg, the role requires travel across South Africa and oversees multiple branches with a focus on service levels, profitability and cost control.

The position demands senior management experience in road freight, break-bulk and express distribution, NBCRFLI knowledge, and strong commercial and client-management skills.

Qualifications

• Senior management experience within South African road freight.
• Break-bulk and express distribution experience – essential
• Experience managing multiple branches and large operational teams
• Strong knowledge of linehaul, warehousing, OTIF, KPIs and vehicle utilisation
• Experience controlling freight losses, damage, claims and operational costs
• Working knowledge of NBCRFLI and road freight compliance
• Strong commercial, reporting and client-management skills
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel nationally

Responsibilities

• Oversee multiple branches and drive service levels, operational performance and profitability.
• Lead Branch Managers and align on cost control and KPI delivery.
• Drive safety, compliance and quality of service across the national network.
• Monitor performance metrics and optimise fleet utilisation and customer experience.
