National Maintenance Manager – QSR Equipment Uptime

Job summary

Wacky's is seeking a Maintenance Manager to take ownership of maintenance across the national store network, based at the Durban Head Office with travel to stores. You will drive a proactive maintenance programme, reduce downtime and manage contractors to ensure all stores operate safely and trade-ready.

The role requires Mechanical or Electrical engineering background, CMMS experience and multi-site exposure in a QSR/retail setting. A vehicle and valid license are needed for site visits.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) familiarity.
• CMMS or similar maintenance/asset management software experience (advantageous).
• Experience in a multi-site QSR, restaurant or retail maintenance environment.
• Refrigeration and/or HVAC trade certification (advantageous).
• Experience implementing or administering a CMMS or similar system.
• Own vehicle and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Establish dedicated ownership of maintenance across Wacky's with national reach.
• Develop, implement and manage a preventative maintenance programme for all stores and equipment.
• Reduce downtime and repair costs through proactive planning, inspection and fault diagnosis.
• Diagnose and resolve faults on QSR equipment (fryers, refrigeration, extraction, HVAC).
• Coordinate external contractors, SLAs, call-outs, quotations and workmanship quality.
• Support new store openings and equipment installations to ensure trade-readiness.
• Prioritise breakdown response and maintenance across multiple sites.
• Manage the maintenance budget balancing cost control with uptime.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and operational standards.
• Adopt hands-on, proactive and solutions-driven problem solving.
• Maintain strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise under pressure.
• Maintain strong communication with contractors, suppliers and store teams.
