Job summary

Expressive Arts College in Umhlanga is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Part-time Music Teacher to join our on-site campus. You will teach individual or small group lessons, nurture a love of music, and support student progress with constructive feedback.

We welcome new graduates and early-career musicians. The role offers mentoring, practical classroom experience, and a position that fits around studies or other work while contributing to performances and student showcases.

Qualifications

• Musical proficiency on at least one instrument or voice.
• Experience in teaching or performing is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Teach individual and/or group music lessons to learners of different ages and levels.
• Plan age-appropriate lessons that build skill and love of music.
• Track learner progress and give feedback to learners and parents.
• Help prepare learners for exams, performances and concerts.
• Keep lessons fun, structured and safe for children.
• Collaborate with the college team on events and showcases.

What we're looking for

• Solid musical skills on at least one instrument or voice
• Music study (e.g. a degree, diploma or graded exams) or teaching and/or performance experience – new graduates and early-career musicians are very welcome
• A warm, patient, engaging and child‑friendly manner
• Clear communication and a reliable, professional approach
• Availability for full teaching days
• Ability to get to our Umhlanga campus reliably
