Job summary

Excellerate is seeking a Handyman Assistant in Gqeberha, South Africa, to support a Handy Man across multiple client sites. You will contribute to general maintenance such as carpentry, painting, tiling, plumbing and repairs, and you will report via smartphone apps.

The role requires a Grade 12 or equivalent, 1–2 years’ maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel. Strong communication and safety awareness are essential to succeed in this hands-on position.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• 1–2 years’ experience in general building or facilities maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of carpentry, painting, tiling, plumbing and repairs.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites.
• Ability to use a smartphone for reporting, checklists and work tracking.
• Willingness to learn and support maintenance activities.
• Good communication skills with clients and team.
• Health, safety and operational procedures awareness.
• Reliable, trustworthy and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Handy Man with general building maintenance across client sites.
• Support carpentry, painting, ceiling repairs, drywall, plumbing and tiling tasks.
• Prepare tools, materials and equipment for site tasks.
• Assist inspections, identify issues and provide reports.
• Complete daily admin tasks using mobile technology.
• Support site call-outs and ad-hoc repairs or planned maintenance.
• Provide feedback to the Handy Man and Operations Manager.
• Adhere to health, safety and operational procedures at all times.
