Job summary

CBRE Excellerate in Matatiele, South Africa, is seeking a Handy Man Assistant to support the Handy Man in delivering general maintenance and repairs across client sites.

You will assist with carpentry, painting, ceiling repairs, dry walling, basic masonry, plumbing and tiling, using smartphones to track tasks and report progress to the Operations Manager. Travel between sites and adherence to safety standards are required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• 1–2 years’ experience in general building or facilities maintenance.
• Basic maintenance skills including carpentry, painting, tiling, plumbing.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites.
• Ability to use a smartphone for reporting, checklists and work tracking.
• Good communication skills and awareness of health, safety, and operational procedures.
• Reliable, trustworthy and detail-oriented.
• Willingness to support the Handy Man in all maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the Handy Man with general building maintenance and repairs across client sites.
• Supporting tasks such as carpentry, painting, ceiling repairs, dry walling, basic masonry, plumbing and office furniture repairs.
• Preparing tools, materials and equipment for site tasks.
• Assisting in inspections, identifying issues and providing accurate reports.
• Completing daily admin tasks using mobile technology and digital job cards.
• Supporting site call-outs promptly and assisting with ad-hoc repairs or planned maintenance.
• Providing feedback to the Handy Man and Operations Manager and complying with safety procedures.
