Job summary

A well established manufacturing operation in Amanzimtoti is seeking a reliable Mould Operator to join its production team. The successful candidate will operate moulding equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring output meets quality and volume targets in a busy production environment.

Key responsibilities include setting up machines, loading materials, monitoring cycle times and quality, performing basic maintenance, and ensuring a clean and safe work area.

Qualifications

• Experience in moulding production environments.
• Ability to read and follow production instructions and quality specs.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime and weekends.
• Physically fit to stand for long periods and perform manual tasks.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Operate moulding machinery in line with SOPs and production schedules.
• Set up, start up and shut down machines safely at shift start and end.
• Load raw materials and monitor feed levels during runs.
• Carry out mould changes and basic tooling adjustments as required.
• Monitor cycle times, temperatures and pressures; adjust settings within parameters.
• Inspect finished product against quality specs and remove defects.
• Record production output, downtime, scrap and rejects accurately.
• Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on machines and moulds.
• Report faults, breakdowns and quality deviations to supervisor promptly.
• Assist with trimming, finishing, packing and labeling as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow housekeeping standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
