Olarm in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Mobile App Lead to own our mobile platform and lead a team of developers, delivering high-quality, scalable, user-centric apps built with React Native.
You will define the technical direction, enforce best practices, and collaborate with Product, Design and Backend teams to ship features across iOS and Android.

We are looking for an experienced and hands‑on Mobile App Lead to take ownership of our mobile application platform and lead a team of developers in building high‑quality, scalable, and user‑centric mobile applications. This role combines technical leadership, hands‑on development, and team management. You will be responsible for setting the technical direction, ensuring best practices, and delivering exceptional mobile experiences using React Native. You will work closely with Product, Design, and Backend teams to deliver seamless, high‑performance mobile applications that align with business and customer needs.
- Own the mobile app architecture and technical roadmap.
- Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and development processes.
- Make key decisions on frameworks, tools, and mobile architecture.
- Ensure applications are scalable, maintainable, and secure.
- Actively contribute to development using React Native, writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Lead by example through high‑quality implementation and code reviews.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues across the mobile stack.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of mobile developers.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Support team members in improving their technical and problem‑solving skills.
- Help recruit and onboard new developers where required.
- Oversee the full mobile app development lifecycle:

- Continuously monitor and improve app performance, responsiveness, and stability.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to optimise the user experience.
- Ensure apps are robust across different devices and OS versions.
- Implement strong testing practices (unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing).
- Ensure high code quality and reliability through testing and reviews.
- Identify and resolve issues related to functionality, performance, and security.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends, tools, and technologies in mobile development.
- Introduce improvements to development workflows, tooling, and app capabilities.
- Contribute to product innovation through new ideas and technical solutions.
