Job summary

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, seeks an experienced Mine Overseer for its Palladium-Rhodium-Nickel-Copper-Gold project in Limpopo near Mokopane. Lead underground production, ensure safety compliance and drive continuous improvement with a focus on achieving targets.

Minimum 5 years as Mine Overseer, strong leadership, and deep knowledge of SA mining legislation are essential. Preference for local candidates and HDSA from surrounding communities.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 education with a relevant mining qualification.
• Watershed qualifications include N Diploma or BTech in Mining Engineering; professional certificates are advantageous.
• Required mining certificates demonstrate competency for underground operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise underground mining production activities and achieve safety and production targets.
• Ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act, Minerals Act and company policies.
• Lead, coach and develop production supervisors and underground teams.
• Monitor production performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments and accident investigations.
• Ensure effective planning, resource allocation and equipment utilisation.
• Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and environmental compliance.
• Liaise with engineering, geology, survey and other departments to optimise production.
