Job summary

Lactalis South Africa in Midrand is seeking a skilled Millwright to join our technical maintenance team. The successful candidate will focus on preventative maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems in our production facility, reporting to the Technical Manager.

The position requires a qualified trade-tested Millwright with 3-5 years in FMCG environments, PLC fault finding, and a willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends and public holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Qualified trade tested Millwright.
• 3-5 years experience in FMCG environment.
• Fault finding on PLC systems.
• Willing to work shifts, overtime, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance on electrical and mechanical plant equipment.
• Fault finding on PLCs.
• Ensure maintenance logged in Pragma system with timely schedules and job cards.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation during tasks.
• Provide training to machine operators for basic repairs during production.
• Keep tools and work areas clean after shifts.
• Participate in quality and safety initiatives within area of responsibility.
• Maintain good communication with production regarding breakdowns and maintenance.
• Assist Technical Manager and Engineering team with new technologies.

Role Purpose

Job Overview: Millwright reporting to the Technical Manager with the main responsibility of conducting preventative maintenance activities within the production facility focusing both on electrical and mechanical work.

Requirements

Required Skills

• Qualified trade tested Millwright
• 3-5 experience in trade, and working within FMCG environment
• Conducting maintenance activities both mechanical and electrical in nature
• Fault finding on PLC systems
• High sense of urgency, performance driven and good team work efforts
• Willing to work shifts, overtime, weekends and public holidays, when required

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintenance both electrical and mechanical on and plant equipment
• Fault finding on PLCs
• Ensure that all maintenance is done via Pragma system, and all schedules and job cards completed in a timeous manner
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation when executing tasks
• Provide training to machine operators in order to enable operators to conduct appropriate repairs during normal production runs
• Ensure all tools and working areas are clean before leaving shift
• Actively participate in all small group activities concerning quality and or safety complaints and or issues in area of responsibility
• Ensure good lines of communication with production concerning breakdowns and maintenance activities within responsible area
• Assist Technical Manager and Engineering team in initiating and implementing new technologies
