Job summary

PepsiCo South Africa seeks a skilled Millwright to maintain plant and machinery (electrical, mechanical, PLC) in a safe, compliant environment. You will perform planned, corrective and proactive maintenance across compressors, blowers, and facilities.

Responsibilities include dismantling, assembling, aligning equipment, fault-finding, LOTO compliance, standby shifts and OT as production requires; strong mechanical and PLC experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Matric and N3 qualification.
• Millwright trade test certificate endorsed by DoL/SETA (Red Seal).
• 3–5 years FMCG/FMEA experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical background with PLC and automation exposure.
• Wireman’s license or willingness to study for one.
• Leadership experience in previous roles.
• SAP Fiori experience and PLC knowledge useful.
• Driver’s license, own transport; Malmesbury resident preferred.
• Willing to standby/callouts and overtime as required.
• Experience with fault-finding and rapid breakdown response.
• LOTO compliance and ability to handle electrical safety basics.

Responsibilities

• Dismantle, assemble, and align machinery and equipment.
• Move machinery and construct foundations for machines.
• Repair and lubricate machinery and electrical components.
• Test units for electrical and mechanical operation.
• Set PLCs and ensure preventive maintenance compliance.
• Attend to food safety action items and housekeeping.
• Work on blowers, compressors, facilities, etc.
• Perform Gemba walks and close NCs.

Job description

To provide and maintain a working environment that is safe and risk-free by safely performing plant and machinery maintenance (electrical, mechanical, facilities & PLC program) as per PEPSICO and OHS Act requirements, maintenance strategies include Planned, Corrective and Proactive Maintenance.
Perform routine inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to prevent breakdowns and ensure smooth operation
weld, fabricate, or modify parts for machinery. Adhere to safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.

• Dismantled machinery or equipment
• Assembled, installed and aligned equipment and machinery
• Moved machinery and equipment
• Constructed foundation for machines
• Repaired and lubricated machinery and equipment
• Repaired basic electrical circuitry and components
• Tested units to evaluate electrical & mechanical operations
• Set programmable logical circuits (PLC's)
• Preventative Maintenance compliance
• Attend to Food safety action items
• Be able to work on blowers, compressors, facilities etc
• Gemba walks, closing of NC’s and housekeeping

Qualifications

• Matric and N3
• Millwright trade test certificate endorsed by Department of Labour or applicable to SETA (Red seal)
• 3-5 years relevant experience (FMCG/FMEA experience will be an added advantage)
• Strong Mechanical background coupled with PLC and automation experience
• Preferable to have a wireman’s license or must be interested and willing to study and attain a wireman’s license.
• Must have leadership experience and capabilities through previous roles performed
• Advantageous experience SAP Fiori, Welding, PLC, milling equipment experience young energetic with career advancement ambitions
• Driver’s licence, own transport and living nearby Malmesbury is a strong must to be able to work standby/callouts
• Be prepared to work standby/callouts and overtime as and when required by production demands
• Experience in conducting trouble-shooting and diagnostic (fault finding), quick respond to breakdowns/MTTR is a strong requirement
• Be eligible to perform compliance tasks as per EHS and non-compliant findings as per Quality requirements.
• Be able to be licenced to operate forklifts, lifting equipment e.g. overhead cranes and basic rigging
• Apply LOTO on hazardous energies.
