Responsibilities

• Conduct simple and complex tests independently.

• Adhere to departmental turnaround times (TAT) and notify supervisor of delays.
• Clean and disinfect equipment.
• Maintain laboratory instruments and report calibration/service needs.
• Ensure testing aligns with OHS and QA policies and procedures.
• Implement quality TAT corrective actions.
• Maintain proficiency scores for conducted work.
• Maintain stock levels and manage consumable costs.
• Complete reporting requirements and respond to team members promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Microbiology Analyst - Western Cape

Description: The purpose of this position is to conduct the testing of samples submitted to the laboratory so that work is completed within the required turnaround times.

Job Specification

Requirements:

1. National Diploma in Biotechnology or BSC Degree in Microbiology.
2. 1-2 years’ experience in a Food microbiology laboratory.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct simple and complex tests independently.
2. Verification of results independently and interpret data against known sources of information.
3. Improve laboratory efficiency.
4. Ensuring adherence to departmental TAT’s and early warnings to direct supervisor of any delay on TAT.
5. Cleaning and disinfection of equipment.
6. Responsible for upkeep of laboratory instruments and notification to management of calibration and service requests.
7. Ensure that all analysis and related tasks are performed in accordance with OHS and Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures.
8. Implementation of quality TAT corrective actions for area of responsibility.
9. Maintaining acceptable proficiency scores for work conducted.
10. Ensure correct stock levels are maintained effectively for testing.
11. Managing consumable costs.
12. Timely completion of all reporting requirements and responses to any team member as required.
13. Other duties as assigned by the company within the Employee’s scope of work.

Monthly Salary: R10000 - R15000
