Job summary

Prime Medical Casualty Group in the Free State seeks an Independent Medical Practitioner specialized in Emergency Medicine to manage a broad range of emergencies, from paediatric cases to major trauma.

You will handle ED patient care, code blues, investigations, resuscitation, procedures, and referrals to specialists. MBChB/MBBCh, HPCSA registration, ACLS, PALS, ATLS are required; DA/DipPEC advantageous; ultrasound beneficial; indemnity mandatory. Start 01 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Must hold MBChB/MBBCh and be registered as an Independent Medical Practitioner with HPCSA.
• ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications required.
• Ultrasound proficiency advantageous.
• Professional medical indemnity is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Manage patients in the emergency department and code blues.
• Order and perform investigations and stabilise patients.
• Perform emergency procedures and refer to specialists when needed.
• Coordinate patient care with hospital teams.

Job description

We are in search of a highly skilled and confident Independent Medical Practitioner, well versed in Emergency Medicine. The successful candidate should be comfortable managing a range of emergencies, from paediatric emergencies to toxicology and major trauma.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing patients in the emergency department and code blues in the hospital, ordering and performing investigations, stabilising patients, performing emergency procedures, and referring patients to the appropriate specialist if required.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBCH/MBCHB)

Registered with HPCSA as an Independent Medical Practitioner

ACLS

PALS

ATLS

DA/DipPEC advantageous

Ultrasound proficiency advantageous

Professional medical indemnity mandatory
