Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a knowledgeable Media and Public Affairs Specialist for a hybrid role in Polokwane, Limpopo. You will manage media relations, craft strategic communications, and engage with government stakeholders to promote the association's interests in the mining sector.

You will develop policy briefs, monitor coverage, and coordinate public engagement events, while collaborating with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Journalism, or related field.
• 4+ years in media relations, public affairs, or corporate communications, preferably in resources or public sector.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong analytical abilities.
• Proven ability to build relationships with media and government entities.
• Strong understanding of public policy and advocacy processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement media relations strategies to enhance the association's public profile.
• Craft press releases, statements, and reports on industry-related issues.
• Build and maintain relationships with media representatives, government officials, and stakeholders.
• Monitor media coverage and public discourse relevant to the mining sector in Limpopo.
• Organize press briefings, workshops, and public engagement events.
