Job summary

Hire Resolve’s client in Durbanville seeks a Mechanical Revit & CAD Draughts person with 3+ years of experience in mechanical services drawing. You will draft 2D/3D layouts for HVAC, wet services, and fire protection using Revit and AutoCAD, and coordinate models with multi-disciplinary teams.

You will also prepare tender drawings, update models for design changes, and support engineers during concept and development phases, while adhering to CAD standards and office templates.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of mechanical services draughting experience in the consulting engineering or construction industry.
• Strong portfolio of HVAC, wet services, and fire protection layouts.
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams on commercial, residential, or healthcare projects.

Responsibilities

• Revit & CAD Drafting: Create and modify detailed 2D/3D mechanical drawings for HVAC, wet services, and fire protection using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Model Coordination: Collaborate with electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines to ensure coordination across models and conduct clash detection.
• Drawing Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, layout plans, schematics, and details for tender and construction phases.
• Project Support: Assist engineers with conceptual layouts and design development; participate in internal project meetings.
• Standards and Quality Control: Maintain Revit templates and CAD standards; perform quality checks on drawings before submission.
• Software and File Management: Manage project files, sheet sets, and drawing registers; ensure version control and proper file naming.
• Site and As-Built Drawings: Occasionally assist in site measurement and preparation of as-built drawings.

Responsibilities:

• Revit & CAD Drafting:

  • Create and modify detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings for HVAC, wet services, and fire protection using Revit and AutoCAD.

  • Ensure all drawings adhere to industry standards and company protocols.

• Model Coordination:

  • Collaborate closely with other disciplines (electrical, structural, architectural) to ensure coordination across models.

  • Conduct clash detection and resolve issues with BIM models.

• Drawing Documentation:

  • Prepare technical documentation, layout plans, schematics, and details for tender and construction phases.

  • Update models and drawings based on design changes and mark-ups.

• Project Support:

Requirements:

Education & Training:

• National Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Draughting, or Building Services.

• Formal training in Revit MEP and AutoCAD (accredited institution or in-house training).

• BIM/Revit certification (advantageous).

Software Proficiency:

• Revit MEP – advanced level.

• AutoCAD – proficient.

• Navisworks, BIM 360, or similar BIM collaboration tools (advantageous).

• Microsoft Office (basic proficiency for document control and communication).

Experience:

• 3+ years of mechanical services draughting experience in the consulting engineering or construction industry.

• Strong portfolio of HVAC, wet services, and fire protection layouts.

• Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams on commercial, residential, or healthcare projects.

Technical Knowledge:

• Understanding of mechanical systems: HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection.

• Familiarity with SANS and local building codes.

• Ability to read and interpret engineer’s sketches, specifications, and architectural drawings.
