Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our Centurion-based operations in Gauteng. You will maintain conveyors, lifts, sorters, and automated systems to ensure reliability and uptime.

You will read mechanical drawings, perform welding and fabrication, and diagnose issues in gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics while collaborating with engineering on upgrades. Shifts may be required and safety is a priority.

Qualifications

• Trade certification in Mechanical Fitting, Boilermaking, or related mechanical discipline (NQF Level 4 or equivalent).
• Minimum 4 years of proven mechanical maintenance experience in warehouse, logistics, or industrial setting.
• Proficiency in hydraulics, pneumatics, and general machinery; able to read drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on conveyors, lifts, sorters, and automated systems.
• Conduct timely repairs, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and general mechanical repairs as needed.
• Troubleshoot gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Maintain a clean, organized workshop and adhere to safety standards.
• Collaborate with engineering on upgrades and modifications.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls and ensure rapid resolution.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, parts used, and work orders.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and general machinery.
• Experience with welding and fabrication techniques.
• Ability to interpret complex mechanical schematics and technical documentation.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to work shifts if required.
• Residency in or near Centurion, Gauteng is preferred.
