Job summary

RPO Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Building Services Consulting Engineer in Cape Town for graduates or early-career engineers. You will work with experienced engineers on diverse commercial, healthcare, retail, hospitality, and public infrastructure projects.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assist with design, specification, and delivery of mechanical building services systems, while developing professional skills and contributing to project success.

Qualifications

• BEng, BSc or BTech in mechanical engineering.
• 0–3 years' experience, preferably in consulting.
• Strong interest in Building Services Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and design of mechanical building services.
• Design HVAC systems.
• Assist with Fire Protection and Wet Services design.
• Conduct mechanical services audits and site assessments.
• Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and reports.
• Assist with cost estimates, BOQs, and tenders.
• Support project management through all phases.

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Building Services Consulting Engineer to join its Cape Town office. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early-career mechanical engineer looking to build a career within the building services consulting industry, working on a diverse range of commercial, healthcare, retail, hospitality, and public infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers, assisting with the design, specification, project management, and delivery of mechanical building services systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning and design of mechanical building services systems.
• Design HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) systems.
• Assist with the design of Fire Protection and Wet Services systems.
• Conduct mechanical services audits and site assessments.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, and reports.
• Assist with cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation.
• Support project management throughout all project phases.
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African standards and project specifications.

Minimum Requirements
