Job summary

Dante Group Pty Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its valve industry team in Kempton Park. The role requires a Mechanical Engineering Diploma, Matric, and hands-on experience in mining, water reticulation, oil and gas, piping infrastructure or manufacturing.

Expertise in pressure vessels and familiarity with OHSA, Mine Health and Safety Act, SANS 347, ASME and API standards are advantageous. Up-to-date regulatory awareness is essential for this position.

Qualifications

• ASME B16.*, API 6D/598/608 familiarity is advantageous
• Knowledge of pressure-related safety and compliance is required

Responsibilities

• Assess mechanical aspects of valve-related systems in mining, water, oil and gas sectors
• Ensure compliance with OHSA, Mine Health and Safety Act and SANS 347 for pressure equipment
• Collaborate with production on manufacturing procedures and workshop practices
• Evaluate pressure vessel considerations and related accessories
• Keep abreast of international standards such as PED and EU directives as applicable

Mechanical Engineer (Valve Industry)

Salary: Up to R50 000 CTC per month (Depending on experience)

Duties & Responsibilities

• Matric is essential
• Mechanical Engineering Diploma is essential
• Experience in one or more of the fields of mining, water reticulation, oil and gas, piping infrastructure, and manufacturing is essential
• Knowledge of the South African legislation governing pressure vessels, piping, and pressure accessories is essential, namely the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Mine Health and Safety Act as well as SANS 347 (Categorization and conformity assessment for all pressure equipment)
• Exposure to manufacturing procedures and workshop practices as well as the production machinery utilized in a manufacturing facility is essential
• Experience with pressure vessels will be an advantage
• Exposure to International Legislation and Standards would be advantageous, namely the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B16.5, B16.10, B16.34 and the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section II and VIII Part D, American Petroleum Institute (API) Standards 6D, 608, and 598 and Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) of the European Union
