Job summary

CFW Environmental, part of the CFW Industries group, is seeking an Applications Engineer in Cape Town to lead ventilation projects from concept to commissioning. You will work with mechanical engineers on large turnkey installations across mining, HVAC, and industrial sectors.

The ideal candidate holds a mechanical engineering degree and has experience with ventilation or fan systems. English and Afrikaans fluency is required, with a proactive, customer-focused mindset and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Experience in ventilation/HVAC or industrial air movement applications is advantageous.
• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans.

Responsibilities

• Interpret client specifications, tender documents, and technical requirements.
• Design and select ventilation and fan systems.
• Prepare technical proposals, equipment schedules, and detailed costings.
• Engage with clients to clarify requirements and present technical solutions.
• Liaise with draughting, production, and installation teams to ensure practical designs.
• Provide commissioning support and technical troubleshooting when required.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Attend site visits and client meetings as needed.

We are currently seeking an Applications Engineer to work with a team of mechanical engineers with ventilation projects. The successful candidate will take ownership of ventilation and air handling projects from concept through to commissioning. Responsibilities will include:

• Interpret client specifications, tender documents, and technical requirements.
• Designing and selecting appropriate ventilation and fan systems
• Prepare technical proposals, equipment schedules, and detailed costings.
• Engaging with clients to clarify requirements and present technical solutions

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience in a mechanical engineering role
• Experience in ventilation, HVAC, fan systems, or industrial air movement applications will be advantageous
