Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a dynamic electronics company in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will own mechanical design from concept to prototyping, collaborate with industrial designers and electrical engineers, and support mass production with DFM/ DFA.

Hybrid work in Mossel Bay offers on-site collaboration with remote work flexibility. Candidates typically have 3–5 years of experience, CAD proficiency (SolidWorks or Fusion 360), and a professional portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
• Experience with injection molding, die casting, and sheet metal fabrication.
• Understanding of materials and GD&T.
• Portfolio of relevant design projects desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and enclosures for consumer devices using CAD.
• Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs.
• Collaborate with industrial designers to translate concepts into manufacturable designs.
• Select plastics and metals based on performance and cost.
• Conduct DFM and DFA reviews.
• Build and test prototypes and iterate designs.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers for integration.
• Work with manufacturers to resolve production issues and ensure quality.
• Perform tolerance analysis and create component specifications.
