Job summary

Curro Hazeldean in Pretoria is seeking a Mathematics Teacher (Senior Phase) for a full-time role starting January 2027. The teacher will deliver the Curro and IEB senior phase curriculum, provide subject coordination, and drive learners' academic growth through structured planning and engaging instruction.

The ideal candidate holds a BEd and/or PGCE in senior phase education (SACE-registered) with at least 2 years of senior phase teaching experience and is proficient in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• BEd degree and/or PGCE in senior phase education, with an honours degree in education (in the relevant subject/s) advantageous
• Minimum 2 years' experience as a senior phase teacher
• Knowledge of the IEB curriculum
• SACE-registered
• Clear criminal record

Responsibilities

• Teach and coordinate a range of subjects as per Curro and IEB curricula for the senior phase
• Active teaching, knowledge transfer, skills development and growth of learners' attitudes
• Plan lessons using modern-day tools and processes; prepare workbooks and measure academic achievement
• Set up, monitor and adjust term plans; accommodate differentiated learning materials
• Manage classroom, assessment roster, design and setup for optimal performance, disciplinary rules and communication with learners/parents
• Set up and manage formal and informal assessments, moderation, revision and supervision
• Plan and oversee extramural activities and outings
• Provide one-on-one tutoring support and extra lessons

The role involves teaching and coordinating a range of subjects as per the Curro and IEB curricula for the senior phase. The teacher is responsible for the active teaching, knowledge transfer, skills development and growth of positive attitudes among learners through integrated and focused teaching approaches.

Key performance areas

• Perform teaching duties, including planning lessons using modern-day tools and processes, setting up workbooks and measuring academic improvement and achievement
• Set up, implement, monitor and adjust the term plan as necessary, considering exams, assessments and school activities as well as the need for differentiated learning materials to accommodate barriers to learning
