Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with 5+ years in Maritime and Shipping Law.
• Extensive knowledge of international maritime conventions, legislation, and case law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating charter parties and other shipping contracts.
• Strong marine insurance and P&I club procedures understanding.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on admiralty, salvage, towage, and collisions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate charter parties and shipping contracts.
• Manage cargo claims, demurrage, and freight disputes.
• Handle marine insurance matters, including hull, machinery, P&I, and H&M claims.
• Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL and national laws.
• Represent the company in negotiations and dispute resolutions.
• Liaise with P&I clubs, salvors, surveyors, and legal counsel globally.
