About the Role

Our client, a prominent maritime services company, is seeking a dedicated Marine Engineering Technician to join their team in **Mossel Bay, Western Cape**. This hands‑on role is vital for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of various marine vessels and their associated engineering systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the mechanical integrity, operational efficiency, and safety compliance of engines, propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and onboard electrical systems. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on main engines, auxiliary engines, and propulsion systems.
• Service and maintain onboard electrical systems, including generators, switchboards, and distribution networks.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and hydraulic systems specific to marine applications.
• Conduct diagnostic tests on machinery and identify potential issues before they lead to failures.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair work is carried out in accordance with industry standards, safety regulations, and vessel specifications.
• Maintain detailed logs of all maintenance performed, including parts used, time taken, and recommendations for future work.
• Assist with the installation of new equipment and systems aboard vessels.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Marine Engineering Technician, Ship Repair Technician, or similar role.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment relevant to marine engineering.
• Experience with welding and fabrication is a plus.
• A relevant trade qualification or certification in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Fitting is required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and reside in or be willing to relocate to the Mossel Bay area.
