Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Apprentice Marine Technician for a prestigious maritime services client based in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The role offers hands-on training in marine engines, propulsion systems and vessel equipment, under the supervision of seasoned technicians.

You will rotate through inspections, maintenance tasks, disassembly and reassembly of components, and tests, while adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Completed Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science.
• Passion for marine mechanics and the maritime industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with precision and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new marine systems.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reside in Mossel Bay or have reliable transport to Mossel Bay.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced marine technicians with inspection, diagnosis, and repair of engines.
• Learn routine maintenance such as oil changes and filter replacements.
• Disassemble and reassemble marine mechanical components.
• Gain experience with propulsion systems including stern drives and inboard engines.
• Support troubleshooting of electrical and hydraulic systems on vessels.
• Maintain records of maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure safety and environmental procedures are followed.
• Operate workshop tools safely and keep the workspace organized.

Key Responsibilities
