Job summary

Placements24 in East London is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong focus on manufacturing processes. You will design, develop and improve machinery, tooling and production equipment to boost efficiency, quality and cost-effectiveness in a hybrid work setting.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years’ experience in mechanical design, proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor) and a solid grasp of machining, welding and stamping.

Qualifications

• BEng in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in mechanical design for manufacturing.
• Proficient with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Strong documentation and teamwork skills.
• Experience with automation and robotics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop machinery, tooling, and fixtures for manufacturing.
• Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to boost throughput and quality.
• Create detailed drawings, assembly instructions, and maintenance procedures.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and technicians to ensure manufacturability.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement engineering solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies and propose new technologies or process improvements.
