Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated professional to join AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) as Manager, Resource and Reserve Compliance. This pivotal role is based in Johannesburg, South Africa or Denver, USA, and offers an opportunity to play a central part in ensuring the integrity, compliance, and governance of Mineral Resource and Reserve reporting across the company.

The successful candidate will ensure that all AGA reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources, and Mineral Reserves complies with internal governance standards, regulatory codes, and best practice benchmarks. This role is essential in safeguarding compliance with international reporting requirements (S-K 1300, NI 43-101, SAMREC, JORC), maintaining audit readiness, and ensuring the credibility of AGA’s disclosures to shareholders and regulators. The role also includes leadership in administering the company’s cloud-based Resource and Reserve reporting system, guaranteeing data integrity, workflow development, and continuity for annual reporting cycles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coordinate, and manage the compilation, technical verification, and timely delivery of annual Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve public disclosures and SEC filings (Form 20-F / S-K 1300) in alignment with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the drafting, technical review, and document control for public technical reports (including SEC S-K 1300 Technical Report Summaries.
  • Track evolving international reporting codes (S-K 1300, SAMREC, JORC, NI 43-101), monitor regulatory disclosure trends, and benchmark corporate reporting practices against industry peers.
  • Oversee the administration and continuous improvement of Resource and Reserve reporting databases and cloud disclosure platforms, ensuring data integrity, workflow controls, and SOX compliance.
  • Facilitate corporate R&R governance committee activities, track decision closeouts across disclosure milestones, and manage internal technical reviews and third-party external audit programs.
  • Drive effective cross-discipline collaboration across geology, mining engineering, geotechnical, tailings, metallurgy, and environmental/social teams to verify technical inputs.
  • Manage and maintain the central R&R SharePoint portal for technical standards, guidelines, audit records, and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain hands-on technical proficiency through periodic participation in site technical reviews, operational site visits, benchmark studies, and special technical projects.
  • In-depth expertise in SEC Regulation S-K 1300 disclosure requirements and familiarity with international reporting codes (SAMREC, JORC, NI 43-101).
  • Practical competence in preparing, editing, and reviewing public Technical Reports, specifically SEC S-K 1300 Technical Report Summaries (TRS).
  • Working knowledge of corporate Resource and Reserve database systems (RCubed / Resource Disclosure) and collaborative reporting software (Workiva / WDesk).
  • Solid understanding of SOX compliance, database audit trails, and internal control frameworks.
  • Strong numeracy, analytical ability, technical editing and comment-reconciliation skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Advanced communication, diplomacy, and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to build consensus across site teams, corporate functions, and external experts.
Required Education
  • Formal tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s degree) in Geology/Geosciences, Mining Engineering, or a related extraction discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Mineral Resource evaluation, geostatistics, or mining engineering will be an advantage.
Required Experience
  • 8+ years of operational and/or corporate experience in exploration, geology, mine engineering, or mineral processing, with direct involvement in Mineral Resource and Reserve reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience with corporate R&R disclosure database management systems (RCubed/Resource Disclosure and Workiva/WDesk) and SOX audit workflows.
  • Proven track record in technical report document control, including managing multi-disciplinary comment resolution loops between site teams, Qualified Persons (QPs), corporate leads, and external consultants.
  • Hands-on experience in drafting, editing, and compiling disclosures under SEC Regulation S-K 1300 (Form 20-F / TRS) is highly advantageous.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and tracking outcomes for internal technical reviews and external third-party audits.
  • Direct experience working with multi-disciplinary technical teams (geotechnical, tailings, processing, environmental, social/permitting) to verify modifying factors.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across global, virtual, and multi-cultural teams.
