Job summary

A national conservation organization is seeking a Manager: Finance for its Infrastructure & Special Projects. Responsibilities include effective financial management of projects, ensuring compliance with legislation, and leading the finance team. Candidates should possess a B. Com degree in Accounting and 5-7 years of finance experience, preferably in project financial management and audits.

Qualifications

  • Five to seven years’ experience in finance, including audits and project financial management.
  • Registration with a professional body is an advantage.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage financial operations of Expanded Public Works Programme and Infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and policies.
  • Develop and enforce internal control systems.
  • Lead project audits and maintain financial documentation.
  • Oversee Supply Chain Management for the unit.

Requirements
  • Be in possession of a B. Com Degree in Accounting / bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent registration.
  • Registration with a professional body will be an added advantage.
  • Five to Seven years’ experience in finance.
  • Experience in Financial Accounting, audits, financial management of projects.
  • Understanding the Public Finance Management Act and National Treasury regulations.
  • Experience of working with Great Plains or other financial accounting packages.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Microsoft Office software competency.

  • Effective financial management of Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) and Infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for an accounting system to provide accurate and timely financial information and reconciliations.
  • To develop, enhance, implement and enforce internal control systems.
  • Manage project specific audits, internal and external audits for projects.
  • Responsible for the submission of progress payment reports and financial information.
  • Manage and maintain a record system of financial documentation.
  • Maintain an up-to-date fixed asset register and manage inventory.
  • Oversee Supply Chain Management function for the unit.
  • Manage the budget and finances for the unit.
  • Lead and develop of unit finance staff.
  • Liaison with funders and role-players.
