Qualifications

Exciting growth opportunity in commodity trading and logistics

Role Overview

A large, established trading and logistics business is seeking a Management Accountant to join their Stellenbosch-based finance team. This high-impact role offers broad exposure to global supply chains and multi-currency operations within a fast-paced commercial environment.

Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, you will support transactional accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end reporting across international trade entities. You will collaborate across logistics and operations functions to validate trade data while building a strong foundation for career progression into trade accounting and commercial finance.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely reporting in accordance with IFRS and US GAAP.
• Prepare trading account Profit and Loss statements and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee inventory valuation process and ensure accurate inventory accrual accounting.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
• Process bank transactions, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and maintain accurate accounting records across multiple currencies.
• Execute month-end close procedures, including preparing accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis schedules.

Qualifications & Experience

• Tertiary Degree in Accounting or Finance with between 2 and 5 years' accounting experience within a commercial environment.
• Proven experience performing balance sheet reconciliations, transactional accounting, and month-end close procedures.
• Advanced MS Excel skills and working knowledge of ERP systems such as PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle, Syspro, Evolution, etc.
• Practical accounting exposure to multi-currency operations, commodity markets, or international trade environments (advantageous).
• Practical experience using Power BI and process automation tools (advantageous).
