A fast-growing commodities trading and logistics business operating across Southern Africa is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their Cape Town-based team. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in streamlining financial operations and supporting the regional agricultural value chain.

Reporting to senior leadership, you will take full ownership of the finance function's day‑to‑day groundwork, reporting requirements, and cross‑border compliance. This is a highly hands‑on and operational role requiring deep involvement in management accounting, multi‑currency transactions, inventory management, and logistics coordination within a lean and fast‑paced team.

Key Responsibilities

• Consolidate management accounts, execute month‑end and year‑end closes, and serve as the primary liaison for external auditors.
• Manage high‑value, multi‑currency transactions and execute foreign exchange hedging strategies to minimise currency risks.
• Perform monthly stock and inventory reconciliations, collaborating with operations teams to promptly resolve variances.
• Forecast and plan cashflow requirements across multiple divisions and cross‑border jurisdictions.
• Process physical invoicing, creditor payments, and bank reconciliations to ensure smooth payment workflows.
• Oversee statutory returns and tax compliance, including VAT and income tax, across various African operating jurisdictions.
• Coordinate logistics schedules and truck bookings to ensure the efficient delivery of products to clients.

Qualifications & Experience

• Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles, or a CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualification, with 2‑5 years of experience in financial accounting.
• Practical, hands‑on experience performing stock and inventory reconciliations.
• Strong technical exposure to multi‑currency operations and foreign exchange transactions.
• Proven experience working within a logistics, commodities, distribution, or supply chain environment.
• Proficiency in cloud accounting software, advanced MS Excel, and inventory management systems (exposure to Xero and Cin7 Core is highly advantageous).

Salary & Benefits

• R480,000 - R660,000 CTC per year highly dependent on experience and qualifications
