Access World is a global commodity warehousing and logistics business. We specialize in handling, Storage, and processing of commodities including non-ferrous and ferrous metals, ferroalloys, project cargo, oil & gas, and other agricultural products. We are an approved warehouse keeper of the London Metal Exchange, and we provide LME warehousing and associated services to traders, producers, financiers, and consumers of base metals. In addition, we provide physical warehouse and related logistics services for commodities such as cocoa beans, rubber, cotton, and other agricultural products. Access World also acts as collateral manager of ferroalloys, minor metals as well as oil and gas. Regions operate in semi-autonomous offices with their corporate functions including commercial, finance HR, legal, and operations.
Purposes of the position:
Access World South Africa is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Accountant to join the Finance team on a fixed-term contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate financial reporting of Access World South Africa entities in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), with a strong focus on monthly financial and management accounting, compliance, reconciliations, and reporting activities. The role will support the Senior Financial Accountant in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timely delivery of financial information to both local and Group stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Conduct budget variance analysis by business unit and company-wide.
- Prepare month-end reporting and Group reporting submissions.
- Review operating expenditure invoices and expense allocations.
- Maintain fixed asset and tax asset registers.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and reconciliations via SARS eFiling.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and Access World Group policies.
Daily Operational Tasks
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Review interface files and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor and supervise expense processing to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare daily and weekly reporting on key account balances and intercompany positions.
- Provide guidance and support to Finance team members, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other Accounting personnel.
Month-End Activities
- Review balance sheet accounts and reconciliations.
- Prepare revenue accrual journals and revenue analysis reports.
- Assist with monthly schedules, accruals, and prepayment reconciliations.
- Review business unit profit and loss reporting.
- Collaborate with operational and support departments to understand business performance and reporting requirements.
Audit, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements.
- Support the preparation of annual financial statements.
- Respond to audit, tax, and statutory compliance queries.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Identify and implement process improvements and enhanced financial controls.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.
- Support the Head of Finance and Senior Financial Accountant with ad hoc requirements.

- Prior experience in the logistics, warehousing, or supply chain industry.
- Experience with month-end and year-end reporting processes in a multinational environment.
- Experience with Oracle fusion.
- Exposure to IFRS reporting requirements.
