Job summary

Cape Cup in Cape Town is seeking a skilled maintenance professional to oversee the upkeep, fault-finding, repair and optimisation of production machinery in our paper cup manufacturing facility.

You will diagnose issues, take ownership of equipment reliability, and prevent problems before they disrupt production. The role suits technically strong individuals who thrive under pressure and are committed to continuous improvement and safe operation.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding ability.
• Experience with industrial production machinery.
• Physically fit and able bodied.
• South African citizen.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
• Good understanding of preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Preventative and planned maintenance on production machinery
• Mechanical fault-finding and breakdown repairs
• Equipment inspections and identifying potential failures
• Installation, adjustment and commissioning of machinery
• Working with bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes, pneumatics and mechanical systems
• Assist with electrical and control-system fault finding where required
• Minimise machine downtime and improve equipment reliability
• Maintain accurate maintenance records
• Work closely with production to resolve machine issues
• Promote safe working practices and good housekeeping

Job description

You will be responsible for the maintenance, fault-finding, repair and optimisation of production machinery within our paper cup manufacturing facility.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working under pressure, diagnosing mechanical problems quickly and taking ownership of equipment reliability.We need someone who doesn't wait for problems to become breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

• Preventative and planned maintenance on production machinery
• Mechanical fault-finding and breakdown repairs

• Fitter & Turner qualification OR equivalent recognised mechanical qualification

Advantageous

• Experience in paper, packaging, printing or converting machinery
• Electrical / PLC fault-finding experience

• Previous experience in a high-speed production environment
