Job summary

Red Carnation Hotels Ltd. is seeking a Maintenance Attendant for Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Wellness Retreat. This role focuses on day-to-day maintenance, upkeep of décor standards, and safe operation under pressure to ensure a well-presented lodge environment.

The candidate will perform routine maintenance, assist with tiling and plastering, and ensure efficient use of materials while meeting the lodge’s high standards. Weekend and holiday shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 qualification is required.
• At least 2 years’ experience as a handyman / Maintenance Attendant.
• Basic electrical, carpentry and painting skills are expected.
• Previous painting experience is advantageous.
• Experience in a hotel or lodge environment is advantageous.
• Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, public holidays and night shifts.
• Presentable and well-mannered with good English communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance duties and checks around the Lodge per the Maintenance plan and decor standards.
• Use paints and consumables efficiently to minimize wastage per SOPs.
• Keep all areas clean, tidy and guest-facing.
• Assist with tiling and plastering when required.

Maintenance Attendant

Job Summary:

This position requires a technically focused, detail orientated team player who can operate under pressure to carry out all day-to-day maintenance of the Lodge.

Organisational Positioning:

• Department:Maintenance
• Reporting to: Assistant Maintenance & Grounds Manager
• Location: Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Wellness Retreat

Minimum Experience or Qualification:

• Grade 12.
• At least 2 years’ experience as a handyman / Maintenance Attendant
• Basic electrical , carpentry and painting experience
• Previous painting experience advantageous
• Previous work in a Hotel / Lodge environment advantageous
• Must be able to work flexible hours including week-end, public holidays, night shifts
• Presentable and well-mannered
• Good command of the English language

Key Performance Objectives:

• To perform general maintenance duties and checks in and around the Lodge as per the Maintenance plan of the Lodge and as per the décor standards a set out by the owners.
• To ensure that all paint and consumable are used in an efficient manner keeping wastage to a minimum in accordance with Lodge’s SOPs.
• To maintain all areas in a clean, tidy and neat manner, presentable to guests.
• When needed to assist with general maintenance in and around the Lodge including tiling and plastering.
