Job summary

Blacksmith Agency is hiring a Machine Learning Engineer to own and ship our internal automation roadmap. This builder role focuses on production systems on top of AI models, not model training.

You will implement agent-based workflows, API integrations, and tooling to reduce manual hours across design and development processes while collaborating with a US-based team in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• At least 2+ years building production software with Python or Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with agent frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph or equivalents).
• Proven API integration work with OpenAI or Anthropic (function calling, tool use, streaming).
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks and cloud deployment.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship production automation components and internal tooling.
• Integrate with external AI APIs and orchestrate tool usage.
• Develop automation pipelines and workflows across internal systems (CMS, GSuite, etc.).
• Collaborate with US-based team for async communication and delivery.

What You Will Build

• Agentic workflows using LangChain, LangGraph or equivalent frameworks.
• Integrations with Anthropic and OpenAI APIs including tool use and function calling.
• Internal tools that reduce manual hours across our design and development production process.
• Automation pipelines connecting WordPress, Figma, Google Workspace and our internal CMS.
• MCP server integrations as part of our broader AI stack.

What You Bring

• 2+ years building production software with Python or Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen or similar agent frameworks.
• Proven API integration work with OpenAI or Anthropic (function calling, tool use, streaming).
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks and basic cloud deployment.
