Job summary

Status Staffing in South Africa is seeking an experienced Machine Builder/Assembler to join their client’s team in Bellville, Cape Town. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in a factory/manufacturing environment, with proven machine-building or mechanical-assembly skills, and an N4 Mechanical qualification.

Applicants must hold a forklift license, basic MIG/TIG welding ability, and be safety conscious with own reliable transport.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in factory/manufacturing environment.
• Experience as Machine Builder, Mechanical Assembler, Fitter or similar role.
• Minimum N4 Mechanical qualification.
• Qualified Fitter / Millwright Artisan preferred/required.
• Forklift Driving License.
• Basic MIG/TIG welding experience.
• Safety qualification or training such as NOSA is an advantage.
• Ability to use measuring equipment (verniers, protractors, squares, spirit levels, tape measures).

Responsibilities

• Assemble and fit gearboxes, pulleys, sprockets, chains, conveyors, rollers, bearings.
• Work with sheet metal and structural materials (mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, etc.).
• Use electrical and mechanical hand tools and measuring equipment.
• Perform basic MIG/TIG welding where required.
• Operate a forklift where required; work safely in a team.

Our client is seeking an experienced Machine Builder / Assembler to join their team in Bellville, Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a factory or manufacturing environment, with proven experience in machine building or mechanical assembly. Candidates must have at least an N4 Mechanical qualification, be a qualified Fitter/Millwright Artisan, hold a Forklift License, and have basic MIG/TIG welding skills. Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly, hand tools, measuring equipment and mechanical components is essential. The successful candidate must be safety conscious, physically fit, comfortable working at heights, have their own reliable transport, and be able to work effectively as part of a team.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 5 years' experience working in a factory, manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Previous experience as a Machine Builder, Mechanical Assembler, Fitter or similar role.

• Use electrical and mechanical hand tools, including drills, grinders, tapping machines, spanners and other standard hand tools.
• Use precision and general measuring equipment, including verniers, angle protractors, squares, spirit levels and tape measures.
• Work with various fasteners, including bolts, nuts, screws, rivets and rivnuts.
• Perform tapping and die-cutting of threads.
• Carry out basic MIG/TIG welding where required.
• Work effectively as part of a team in a factory/manufacturing environment.
• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a safety-conscious approach at all times.
• Work at heights, including climbing ladders, stairs and pedestals, where required.
• Operate a forklift where required and within the scope of the relevant license.
