Job summary

Futurelink Global Recruitment is assisting a Durban-based client to fill a Logistics Manager position. The successful candidate will oversee all logistics activities, including carrier selection, budgeting, planning inbound and outbound deliveries, and coordinating with across departments to align logistics with production schedules.

The role requires a matric and a tertiary qualification in logistics or a related field, plus proven experience as a logistics manager in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Matric and a relevant tertiary qualification are required.
• Experience as a Logistics Manager in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Knowledge of ISO requirements and safety standards is important.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all logistics management duties including selecting carriers, researching shipping methods, inventory management, projects and budget assessment.
• Select carriers and negotiate contracts and rates.
• Plan and monitor inbound and outbound deliveries.
• Supervise logistics, storage, transportation, third party service providers and customer service levels.
• Respond to issues and complaints both internal and external.
• Research and implement shipping techniques, routing, and carriers.
• Coordinate with other departments to align logistics with company procedures and operations.
• Create, maintain and evaluate budgets and expenditures.
• Update and evaluate metrics to assess performance and implement improvements.
• Contribute to and set departmental goals with reference to sales, production and distribution.
• Monitor market demand, conditions, and competitor activity affecting goals.
• Ensure operations adhere to laws, safety, guidelines, and ISO requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

6. Research and implement ideal shipping techniques, routing, and carriers.
7. Work with other departments to incorporate logistics with company procedures and operations.
8. Create, maintain, and evaluate budgets and expenditures.
9. Update and evaluate metrics to assess performance and implement enhancements.
10. Contribute to and set departmental goals with specific reference to sales and production volume, sales price, variable cost of production, product mix and geographical distribution mix.
11. Monitor market demand, conditions, and competitor activity with respect to impact on goals.
12. Ensure all operations adhere to laws, safety, guidelines, and ISO requirements.
