Job summary

Jess Kidwell is seeking an experienced Logistics and Procurement Controller in Ballito to oversee international freight movements, import/export processes and cross-border shipments. You will ensure cost-effective, compliant and timely delivery of goods, including sea and air freight and Africa-focused exports.

Key duties include negotiating rates, monitoring shipments, managing clearing agents and maintaining ERP records. Strong Excel and ERP experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience in import/export logistics or supply chain control.
• Practical knowledge of sea and air freight, customs procedures, export docs and Incoterms.
• Exposure to cross-border trade into Africa and cross-trade/drop-shipment setups.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP or inventory systems; Zoho experience advantageous.
• Excellent negotiation, organisational and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Freight forwarding or customs certification advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate sea and air imports from international suppliers through to warehouse delivery.
• Obtain and negotiate freight rates, monitor shipment progress and manage clearing agents.
• Oversee export shipments to African markets, including cross-trade orders and compliance.
• Review freight and clearing invoices; record duties, VAT and landed costs.
• Support procurement with purchase orders, stock schedules and supplier follow-ups.
• Maintain shipment records, update ERP/inventory systems and compile monthly freight reports.
• Identify opportunities to reduce freight costs and improve shipping efficiency.

The successful candidate will oversee international freight movements, import and export processes, and cross-border shipments, ensuring cost-effective, compliant and timely delivery of goods. Experience in sea and air freight, customs clearing and exports into Africa is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate sea and air imports from India and other international suppliers through to warehouse delivery
• Obtain and negotiate freight rates, monitor shipment progress and manage clearing agents
• Oversee export shipments to African markets, including cross-trade orders, customs documentation and compliance requirements
• Review freight and clearing invoices and ensure duties, VAT and landed costs are accurately recorded
• Support procurement with purchase orders, incoming stock schedules and supplier follow-ups
• Maintain accurate shipment records, update ERP / inventory systems and compile monthly freight cost and delivery performance reports
• Identify opportunities to reduce freight costs and improve shipping efficiency

Requirements:

• Matric
• Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Freight Forwarding or Purchasing
