Job summary

Bidvest Prestige is seeking a Transport Operations Coordinator to manage daily transport activities within the Wes-Kaap region. The role focuses on planning routes, coordinating schedules, and leading a team of drivers and support staff.

Responsibilities include using Excel for data analysis, ensuring vehicle maintenance and safety compliance, and driving continuous efficiency improvements while maintaining high service quality for clients.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Transport Management, Logistics or Operations Management.
• Matric (Senior Certificate).
• Valid Driver’s License.
• 1-3 years’ experience in route planning, scheduling and operational coordination.

Responsibilities

• Plan, optimise and oversee daily transport routes for maximum efficiency and punctuality.
• Manage transport schedules to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Coordinate a team of drivers and operational staff.
• Use MS Excel to track schedules, analyse route performance, manage data, and prepare reports.
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and monitor safety compliance.
• Regularly monitor fleet utilisation and vehicle availability.
• Resolve operational challenges to minimise service disruptions.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and implement cost-saving measures.
• Maintain accurate operational records and transport data.
• Monitor service delivery and address issues affecting customer satisfaction.

ROLE PURPOSE

To manage and coordinate daily transport operations, including route planning, scheduling, fleet utilization and driver management, while maintaining efficient operations and delivering reliable service to clients

MAIN OUTPUTS

• Plan, optimise and oversee daily transport routes to support maximum efficiency and punctuality
• Manage and coordinate transport schedules to ensure smooth daily operations
• Manage, motivate and coordinate a team of drivers and operational staff
• Use Microsoft Excel to track schedules, analyse route performance, manage operational data and prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports.
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and monitor compliance with applicable safety requirements
• Regularly Monitor fleet utilisation and vehicle availability
• Resolve operational challenges promptly to minimise service disruptions
• Monitor transport operations and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
• Implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality
• Maintain accurate operational records and transport data
• Monitor service delivery and address operational issues that may impact on customer satisfaction.
