Job summary

Sasha Prinsloo Occupational Therapy, an affiliated practice operating within the Faircape Health villages, is expanding its pool of Locum Occupational Therapists for 2027 to support sub-acute facilities Tokai Estate and Heritage Manor. Successful candidates will provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to sub-acute patients and assist with outpatient services when required.

Preference given to availability across both facilities and a passion for rehabilitation in a multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Therapy and HPCSA registration.
• MoCA certification and up-to-date BLS training.
• Post-community service clinical experience in neurology/orthopaedics.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of newly admitted sub-acute patients and develop individualised treatment plans.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care.
• Focus on improving patients’ functional independence in activities of daily living and mobility.
• Implement rehabilitation programmes to maximise patient recovery.
• Conduct regular reassessments and adjust treatment plans as required.
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation of assessments, plans and progress.
• Prepare patients for discharge and advise on home modifications or continued rehab.
• Educate and support family members regarding ongoing care at home.

Locum Occupational Therapist Pool

Tokai Estate – Southern Suburbs | Heritage Manor – Somerset West 2027

Sasha Prinsloo Occupational Therapy, an affiliated practice operating within the Faircape Health villages, provides Occupational Therapy services to patients across our facilities.

Faircape Health, a division of the Faircape Group, owns and manages six luxury lifestyle villages with state-of-the-art, technologically advanced Healthcare Centres at each estate.

We are expanding our pool of Locum Occupational Therapists for 2027 to provide support at the following sub-acute facilities:

• Tokai Estate, situated in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town.
• Heritage Manor, situated in Somerset West.

The successful candidates will provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy services to sub-acute patients and assist with outpatient services when required. Applicants may indicate their preferred facility and availability.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of newly admitted sub-acute patients and develop individualised treatment plans.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, doctors, nurses and speech therapists, to ensure holistic patient care.
• Focus on improving patients’ functional independence, including activities of daily living such as dressing, feeding, hygiene, transfers and mobility.
• Implement rehabilitation programmes aimed at maximising patient recovery.
• Conduct regular reassessments and adjust treatment plans when required.
• Ensure the timely and accurate documentation of assessments, treatment plans and patient progress.
• Prepare patients for discharge and make recommendations regarding home modifications or continued outpatient rehabilitation.
• Educate and support family members regarding the patient’s ongoing care at home.

Requirements:

• Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Registered as an independent practitioner with the HPCSA.
• Malpractice insurance and CPD compliance with the HPCSA.
• MoCA certification.
• Up-to-date BLS training.
• Proven post-community service experience.
• Experience in neurology, orthopaedics and wheelchair seating.
• Basic wheelchair seating training and Bobath or neurological short courses would be advantageous.
