Job summary

BKB Ltd is seeking an energetic Loadmaster based in Cradock to manage driving, loading/offloading livestock, and building pens for Special and Stud auctions. You will plan and coordinate auctions and oversee marketing actions and logistics across the Central region.

The role requires Grade 12, 3+ years in livestock, valid EC and PDP, and fluency in Afrikaans and English (Xhosa an advantage). Regular travel is required to cover auctions and operations.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in the Livestock environment.
• Valid EC license and PDP required.
• Fluent in Afrikaans and English; knowledge of Xhosa is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate the truck for livestock transport.
• Load and offload livestock and build pens for auctions.
• Plan, coordinate and market livestock auctions.
• Maintain equipment and ensure gate/pen maintenance.
• Manage auction logistics, administration and wage staff.
• Coordinate advertising and procurement for catalogues and sponsors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the driving of the truck, loading and offloading of livestock, as well as building pens, for Special and Stud auctions and to ensure that all auctions run smoothly. In addition, the candidate will also be responsible for the planning, coordination and overall marketing action of any type of Livestock auctions. The position will be based in Cradock and will require regular travel throughout the Central region.

REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12
• At least 3 years' experience in the Livestock environment
• Valid EC license
• Valid PDP (Public Driver's Permit)
• Must be fluent in Afrikaans, English and Xhosa would be advantageous

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for effective and efficient logistics and administrative processes.
• Loading and offloading of livestock equipment at auctions and building of pens
• Completion and submission of proper accounts and offloading tickets
• Ensure all equipment and gates are maintained which includes welding
• General auction site organization and related functions
• Management of wage employees

• Planning and coordination of auction dates
• Compilation of pamphlets and catalogues for auction

• Gathering of information and documentation required for auctions
• Responsible for advertising of auctions
• Ensure a positive image of the organisation through professional, effective and efficient client services
• Procurement of sponsors for catalogues and BKB functions
• Obtain quotations from printers for pamphlets, catalogues and auction-related printing
• Distribution of marketing material to relevant parties
• Responsible for the effective execution of digital auctions
• Coordinate communication with the company's livestock clients in terms of digital media requirements
• Assist with the procurement and management of new buyers and sellers
