Placements24 is seeking a highly motivated Livestock Manager to oversee operations at extensive farm facilities near Port Elizabeth. The role focuses on health, welfare, and productivity of cattle, sheep, and poultry, including feeding programs, breeding strategies, and staff management.

The candidate should have strong animal science knowledge and practical farm management experience, contributing to the farm’s success and profitability.

Qualifications

• Experience managing large livestock operations (5+ years).
• Strong knowledge of animal nutrition, reproduction, and welfare.
• Proven ability to supervise and train farm labor.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement feeding, breeding, and health programs for all livestock.
• Supervise farmhands and animal caretakers to ensure humane handling.
• Monitor livestock for illness or distress and coordinate veterinary care as needed.
• Maintain records of animal health, breeding, production, and inventory.
• Manage pasture rotation, grazing systems, and farm infrastructure for livestock.
• Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations and biosecurity protocols.
