Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. is seeking a vigilant lifeguard to join our cruise ship team in Cape Town. You will monitor pool areas, enforce rules, and provide immediate first aid to guests and crew.

This role requires calmness under pressure, strong swimming and rescue skills, and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and holidays. You will participate in safety drills and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment aboard.

Qualifications

• Current lifeguard certification from a recognized organization.
• Minimum 1 year lifeguard experience, preferably near pools.
• Strong swimming and rescue skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service.
• Ability to stay calm and act quickly in emergencies.
• Physically fit for fast-paced environments and shift work.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pool areas and water facilities to ensure safety.
• Provide first aid and emergency care as needed.
• Enforce pool rules and regulations for safety.
• Conduct regular safety inspections of pool and deck.
• Assist with pool maintenance and cleaning.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• - Monitor all pool areas and other water facilities on board to ensure safety protocols are being followed onboard the cruise ship
• - Provide first aid and emergency care in the event of an accident or injury
• - Enforce all pool rules and regulations to ensure the safety of all individuals
- Conduct regular safety inspections of the pool and surrounding areas
• - Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of the pool and pool deck
• - Communicate effectively with other crew members and passengers to provide a positive and welcoming atmosphere
• - Participate in safety drills and trainings as required by the company
• - Attend to any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management

Qualifications:

• - Current lifeguard certification from a recognized organization
• - Minimum of 1 year experience as a lifeguard, preferably in a pool or aquatic environment
• - Strong swimming and rescue skills
• - Excellent communication and customer service skills
• - Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations
• - Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• - Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• - Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination and drug test
