Job summary

Curro seeks to appoint a Life Sciences Teacher (Grades 8 to 12) (full-time) at Curro Bankenveld in Emalahleni, commencing January 2027. The role involves teaching and coordinating Life Sciences per Curro curriculum for the FET phase, with emphasis on knowledge transfer and learner growth.

The successful candidate will be responsible for active teaching, planning, assessment, and communication with learners and parents, and will participate in extracurricular activities as required.

Qualifications

• BEd degree and/or PGCE in FET phase education, with an honours degree in education advantageous
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as an FET phase teacher
• Knowledge of the IEB curriculum
• Proven facilitation, problem-solving and report-writing skills
• Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills
• Willing and able to work extended hours and weekends

Responsibilities

• Teach a range of FET subjects per Curro curriculum and coordinate subject selections
• Plan term plans and differentiate learning materials to accommodate barriers to learning
• Create baseline assessments and advise on subject choices and remedial work
• Manage the classroom, assessment roster and communicate with learners and parents
• Set up and manage formal and continuous assessments and homework
• Coordinate extramural activities and provide extra tutoring when needed
