Ideal candidates are admitted attorneys with 3–5 years in commercial contracts, capable of drafting software licenses, SaaS and professional services contracts, and providing risk-aware advice.

About the Role Our client, a dynamic and rapidly growing technology firm, is seeking a dedicated Legal Counsel with a specialization in contract law to join their team in Paarl, Western Cape. This role will focus heavily on the drafting, negotiation, and management of a wide array of commercial agreements, including software licenses, service level agreements, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements. The ideal candidate will possess meticulous attention to detail, strong drafting skills, and a proactive approach to managing contractual risks. This position is based in our Paarl, Western Cape office and requires full-time commitment on-site to ensure seamless collaboration with business stakeholders and efficient contract execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate software license agreements, SaaS agreements, and professional services contracts.
• Develop and maintain standard contract templates and playbooks.
• Advise business teams on contractual terms, risks, and obligations.
• Manage the contract lifecycle, from initiation and negotiation to execution and renewal.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience, with a strong emphasis on commercial contract law.
• Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating various types of commercial agreements, particularly in the technology sector.
• Excellent understanding of contract principles and risk management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a highly organized approach.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and contract management software.
• Experience working in-house or with technology companies is a significant advantage.
