Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, service level agreements, and partnership agreements.
• Provide legal advice on intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including data privacy (e.g., POPIA).
• Support business development and sales teams on legal aspects of transactions.
• Conduct legal research and provide clear, concise legal opinions.
• Manage and resolve contractual disputes and other legal issues.
• Assist in the development and implementation of corporate policies.
• Liaise with external counsel when required.
• Advise on corporate governance matters.
• Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments impacting the technology industry.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or equivalent.
• Admission as an Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in commercial law, preferably with experience in the technology sector.
• Demonstrated expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, and review.
• Solid understanding of intellectual property law and data protection regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with the capacity for effective remote and in-office collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under a hybrid work arrangement.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and standard office software.
