The School of Pharmacy at the University of the Western Cape is dedicated to delivering excellent education across all disciplines that form the foundation of the Pharmacy profession, supported by a strong scientific base and active research. The School of Pharmacy is seeking to appoint an experienced pharmaceutical scientist to complement and enhance both teaching and research expertise in Pharmaceutics, under the SARChI in Nanomedicine and Infectious Diseases.

The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For The Following

• Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in pharmaceutics

Minimum Requirements

• A BPharm and a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutics or Pharmaceutical Sciences
• Teaching experience with a student centred and innovative approach towards teaching and learning.
• Record of publication or presentation of research.
• Some experience of supervision or mentorship of students at undergraduate or postgraduate level.

Advantages For The Appointment

• A PhD in pharmaceutical sciences or related field. Candidates who are in the advanced stages of their PhD, having demonstrated significant progress toward completion, will also be considered favourably.
• A track record of research in nanomedicine.
• A track record of developing research projects and securing funding.

Key Competencies

• Verbal and written communication skills in English for teaching, research, and professional engagement.
• Ability to engage and train students, and provide academic supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Proficiency in conducting research, analyzing data, and contributing to scholarly publications.
• Ability to manage academic, research, and administrative responsibilities efficiently.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
