Job summary

The University of the Free State invites applications for a Lecturer in Teacher Education at Bloemfontein campus. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Education, participate in Teaching Practice, and contribute to research outputs.

Applicants should have a Doctoral (or Master's with doctoral registration) in Education with focus on Teacher Education, a formal teaching qualification, and a strong record of publications.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Education with a focus on Teacher Education (Pre-service or In-service) for permanent appointment.
• Master’s degree in Education with focus on Teacher Education; five-year contract period to complete doctoral degree for conversion.
• Proof of registration for a doctoral degree in Education with focus on Teacher Education; attach copy.
• Formal teaching qualification with Intermediate Phase or Primary School Teaching major (Diploma or B.Ed. degree).
• Minimum five years relevant working experience in a school or at least two years in higher education/R&D.
• Proven research output and ability to present at conferences/publications.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Education.
• Participate in the Work Integrated Learning programme (Teaching Practice).
• Engage in research and publish in accredited journals.
• Contribute to curriculum development in Teacher Education.
• Supervise and provide consultation to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Collaborate with faculty members on leadership and administrative tasks.
