Advtech through Emeris is seeking a Lecturer: Law at the Nelson Mandela Bay Campus to teach across programmes and provide student support. The role involves delivering lectures, marking assessments, and contributing to scholarship in law while engaging in curriculum development.

The ideal candidate holds an LLM and has lecturing experience; an admitted attorney or legal title is preferred, with active involvement in research and publications considered advantageous.

Formación

• LLM required; admitted attorney/advocate preferred.
• Lecturing experience: 2–5 years or 5+ years depending on route.
• Publications in law are advantageous.

Responsabilidades

Emeris, Nelson Mandela Bay Campus, has a vacancy for a Lecturer: Law

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lecture on programmes across various modes of delivery where relevant
• Marking of assessments and feedback to students in subjects lectured. May be required to internally moderate assessment scripts that fall within their subject fields, where necessary across IIE sites of delivery

Lecturer Development and Support

• Assist in lecturer development and support processes and procedures. This may include conducting peer reviews, facilitating workshops and one-on-one consultations

Student Development & Support

• Championing/leading and managing academic development and support for a specific programme and its students
• Tracking student success and implementing support interventions where required

Research & Scholarship

• The incumbent is required to promote a culture of scholarship within their practice, discipline and campus/team and is also required to contribute towards The IIE’s Varsity College achieving its annual research output targets
• Supervising undergraduate research reports

Competencies Required:

• Superior communication (written and verbal) and organisational skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage work and self proactively
• Able to demonstrate a proven track record of effective teaching in subject area based on a reflective practice
• Able to demonstrate the ability to manage relationships with managers and staff effectively in terms of motivation, quality and performance
• Passion for Customer Service
• Experience in the use of technology to enhance learning is an added advantage
• Must display team work skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Strong work ethic and conduct themselves with honesty and integrity

Minimum Education Requirements:

• Master of Law (LLM)
• Preferably an admitted attorney/advocate or in possession of any relevant legal professional title
• Proven track record of academic publications is an advantage.

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 2- 3 years lecturing with 3 years industry experience OR
• Minimum of5 years lecturing experience
